Conservation Law Foundation thanks these key New England stakeholders for signing a letter of support for permanently protecting one of New England’s most valuable places: Cashes Ledge underwater mountain range in the Gulf of Maine. The “Yellowstone of the Ocean,” Cashes Ledge is so unique in its biodiversity that it deserves to be protected just as any land-based state park. Permanent protection provides a safe haven for the scarce cod population and is important for future scientific research, especially as the scientific community continues to learn about the effects of climate change on ocean habitats and species.
“Everyone has a stake in a healthy ocean. The Surfrider Foundation supports permanent protection of special coastal places and ecological hotspots, including Cashes Ledge, to ensure the health of the ocean ecosystem and recreational areas now and for future generations.”

The Green Alliance
“The Green Alliance fully supports permanent protection and preservation of Cashes Ledge. As seen across the globe, our oceans are in an extremely fragile state. We believe that improved ocean stewardship, including through the permanent protection of vulnerable habitat, will contribute to a stronger economy and healthier communities.”
